Today British singer Michael Kiwanuka played the River Stage at the XPoNential Music Festival. He and his band began just as the sun was setting, the perfect background for a soulful set.  Multi-colored LEDs painted the trees rainbow and couples took each other’s hands as the band began to play.  Most of the songs were from his most recent album, Home Again, was released May of 2012.  The audience eagerly swayed along through it all, including the jazzy song “Tell Me A Tale” as well as his hit single “I’m Getting Ready.”  Kiwanuka’s set even included a beautiful Jimi Hendrix cover, “May This Be Love (Waterfall),” which sounding as much like a Kiwanuka song as one by Hendrix.   For such a mellow set, the crowd could not have shown more enthusiasm.  See photos of the performance in the gallery below, read the setlist after the jump, and listen to the set in its entirety here (via the WXPN media player).
